Weekly College Update

Dear Senior Huskies, Snow Leopards, Bulldogs, and Thunderbirds,

This is the final college readiness newsletter for this school year. I am incredibly proud and humbled to have been a part of this process with you. Summit’s class of 2016 has received over 900 acceptances to about 200 unique colleges and universities across the country, including Brown, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and all 9 UC campuses. You are going on to pursue so many interesting majors and career paths, and we are all excited to see what your future has in store.

Even though you will graduate and leave Summit in just a short week, you will always be an alum and part of the Summit family. We plan to keep in touch! We will reach out from time to time to share opportunities you might be interested in, such as scholarships, internships, and alumni gatherings. We also want to find out about how you’re doing in your life after Summit and share your feedback with us. To ensure that we can get in touch with you, please make sure you complete the senior survey.

Finally, I have a couple of last important reminders about college:

Transcripts
If you are attending a 4 year college next year, they MUST receive your final high school transcript in July. We will send that transcript for you as soon as final grades are available in mid-June, but we need you to update Navianceso that it accurately shows us the college you’ll be attending next year. Additionally, if you have taken any community college courses that you reported on your college application, you need to have those official transcripts sent as well directly from the community college. Be sure to request them soon so that they arrive in time.

Orientation
New student orientation sessions are mandatory at many colleges, and you could risk losing your enrollment if you do not attend one. Make sure you know your college’s policy on orientation and sign up soon if you haven't done so already.

AP Scores
Your AP exam scores will be available online starting Tuesday, July 5th. Just log into your college board account to see them. Many colleges give course credit for exam scores of 3 or higher, so be sure to send your score report to your college if you did well.

Congratulations, class of 2016! Happy graduation!

Respectfully,

Ms. Hannon
