Weekly College Update

Dear Senior Thunderbirds, Huskies, Snow Leopards, and Bulldogs,

Imagine the moment when you submit an application to college. You’ve entered each grade and test score, proofreading everything over and over to make sure it’s all accurate. You’ve worked hard to highlight all of your accomplishments over your high school career. You’ve spent so many hours writing and revising your personal statements. Your mentor has double-checked everything and says you’re good to go. You finally click submit! How do you feel?

Most likely you feel a tremendous sense of relief, pride and excitement. You’ve just applied to college! It’s a major milestone in your education. This month, many of you will submit those first applications for CSU, UC, and early decision private schools. At Summit, we want to help you accomplish that milestone and celebrate it!

This week’s focus is College Application Night!

Over the past few years, Summit schools have developed a tradition of holding a College Application Night in November. College Application Night is an after-school event when the mentors, teachers, and the senior class come together to work on college applications. You will get to the opportunity to celebrate and bond as a class, and you also have access to lots of application support so you can ask questions, get feedback on your personal statements, have someone proofread your application, and more.

I hope to see all of you at the College Application Nights coming up in the next two weeks. At Rainier and Tahoma, Application Night will be on Thursday, November 5th. At Prep and Everest, it will be on Thursday, November 12th.Your mentors can provide more details about the logistics at your school, but please mark your calendar and plan to be there!

Respectfully,

Ms. Hannon
